Once described by my friend as like your Grandmother’s porcelain tea cups, the knees are a delicate, unique and precious joint. Often taken for granted until we are called by pain or dysfunction, the knees are a vital part of our ability to move, rebound and be responsive to change. In this 5-hour exploration we will look with reverence at not just the bones, joints and muscles relevant to the knee but also our relationship to this part of our body in both our practice and our lives. Concluding with a therapeutic practice for the knees you will leave with immediately applicable tools for both your own body and that of your students.
*Review major muscles and joint structures of the knee joint
*Develop X-ray vision! Using hands on techniques discover what is bony compression (that ain't moving) or muscular tension (eventually might be moveable)
*Discover why no two students will ever experience the same yoga posture in the same way
*View real human bone specimens to gain a deeper awareness of our inner architecture
*Refine your language and verbal cues to be a more thoughtful, accessible and skillful teacher
*Expand your view of the form by learning the energetic correlations of each structure
*Enjoy a full asana, pranayama and meditation practice that weaves together what you've learned
